Fine Art: Honorable Mention 2023 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
The Oregon Coast is famous for its accessibility and its beauty. And even in black and white, it does not disappoint. Here, a gentle stream that partially reflects the bluff makes its way gently towards the sea, leading your eyes out towards the rock bluff standing guard at the coast’s entrance. The shoreline sands seem to fade effortlessly into the sea which itself fades into the white sky. Sublimity.
AUTHOR
Hey, I'm Matt. Hailing from the Pacific Northwest (USA) but based in Vietnam, I am a travel, documentary and fine art photographer focused on capturing the beauty of Vietnam, SE Asia, the US West and beyond.
More than the places you go, it is hopefully the people you meet along the way, calling each one home, that leaves the greatest impression. For me, that has always been the true gift of travel: people, and the authentic interactions and conversations you keep with you from those journeys.
It is often on those same travels, and through the same interactions and experiences with others, that I find myself imagining just how easily our lives could be switched—that my life could be theirs, and theirs mine? That idea remains a constant source of fascination to me, and a key driver of my creative interest and work.
