Fine Art: Honorable Mention 2023 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Sluggish as the river, life makes its way through the plains, carrying my own family history with it. Calm and dark, the Oder-River flows full of memories of itself and the people on its banks. Through a landscape that is partly reminiscent of wilderness but is nevertheless cultivated land. Nothing is original anymore, even the biotopes are designed space. Where it is abandoned, the landscape remembers itself, its fertility and the myths that surround it. Splinters in her skin make her feel her vulnerability, keep her pain awake and remind her of the blood she sucked up. Deceptively, the scars overgrow.
The sky is reflected in the river, even at night. Dark shallows remain hidden.
In 2020-23 I retraced my childhood memories along the Oder-River with an old Hasselblad camera and 120 roll film. An almost fictional diary was created.
