Wildlife: Honorable Mention 2023 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
We have a real fascination with lions, from stories to hunting to art they hold a prominent place in our history.
I travelled to Tanzania to photograph a specific lion known as Bob Jr, known for his huge black mane. Sadly a few days before I arrived he was killed by rival males in a brutal display of strength and aggression and my plans had to swiftly change.
Instead I focussed on those males that had just killed my proposed subject, this being one of them. Given it had been mere days since their bloody battle I was cautious but after a couple of days we were able to get within a handful of feet and get the shot I was craving.
