ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Humpbacks feed in different ways. Some popular methods are bubble net feeding, lunge feeding or, trap feeding. Trap feeding is when the whale floats with its head pointing out of the water with its mouth open. They float for up to 2 minutes doing this, waiting for lots of small herring (fish) to swim into its mouth, before slamming shut. The whale filters the water out of its mouth by using baleen, then they swallow the herring.
