Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2024 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
I responded to the invitation to the event “Les Rendez-vous de l’Histoire” whose theme was “The Living and the Dead”: The subject is intimate, it is a matter of conviction. Each of us can only work on our relationship to the life and death of others and to tame or flee the idea of our own end... but is it an end?
My desolate landscape imposed itself on me like a journey to Böcklin's Isle of the Dead.
The death of my father when my daughter was very young torments me on the principle of transmission. It’s as if a magnificent book had burned before I immersed myself in all its pages and here I am orphaned of a part of my story. An angel passes! So much for all these questions that remain unanswered as long as I hold my child's hand on this side of the mirror.
The cycle of life punctuates the seasons like an eternal molt. My father is embodied in every tree I photograph. As for water, without it there is no life. It is also the element of the transformation of states and a formidable driver.
AUTHOR
I am a photographer, actress, author and filmmaker trained at the École des Gobelins, at Zoom’Up and at the Ateliers des Beaux-Arts. At the beginning of 2023, I joined the Association of Artists of Loir et Cher and in 2024 the Wilson Art Gallery in Blois. From now on I entrust my works to the artistic agent Barbara Lebron Blanchet.
The Presence.
Through my job as an actress, I have been exploring this idea of “Presence” for a long time. It’s an intuition that isn’t necessarily palpable and yet it’s there! The skin, the bark, or even the mist or the smoke then become the first visual contact of an incarnation, its envelope. This sensory experience is divided into subject, object and landscape. I photograph what I see. Which means everything that is not me. Even my reflection is not me.
The Meantime.
I subscribe to slowness, I might as well make it a strength and consider that I am contemplative. My subjects also bears witness to other temporalities.
Or the time “that it takes” for my wanderings in research towards serendipity, exoduses, transformation and resilience, the time to tame the “Other”…
Either from another temporal dimension towards the ghosts of the past and the future or in that of Mother Nature: the Ents watch us and we rarely hear them because we have to slow down.
I assert the idea of highlighting the transformations and other singularities that I can see. I particularly like codes to better question them, transgress them, even play from the margins.I like to think that there is something serious and playful at the same time floating in my world. Film noir flirts with the land of fairy tales.
