AUTHOR
Based in Chicago but a native of nowhere, Daniel is not a photographer by profession, but has been an avid photographer since receiving his first Kodak Ektralite. Fortunately, he has continued to improve since then.
Fascinated by what people leave behind, Daniel notices things. He is a constant observer and finds photography a compulsion to document what he encounters in daily life. Detritus, graffiti, moments of light and shadow, strange occurrences. Equally, he is drawn to photographing barren, desolate landscapes where photography becomes a kind of meditation.
Early on, he showed an affinity for monochrome photography and, after expressing dissatisfaction with his color prints while working at a local photo store, was told “that’s because you’re a black-and-white shooter”. He’s fine with that.
Daniel graduated with a degree in architecture from the University of Florida where he took an incomplete in the only photography class he has ever taken. He has no distinctions to his name and has never exhibited, but is a founding member of the Chicago Snappers, a local Chicago photography club.
