Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2024 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
I captured this image of the Quiraing early one morning in October, 2024. The Quiraing is an iconic landform on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. The trail, which is cut into the side of the mountain, was soaked with water and mud after several days of heavy rain and included multiple treacherous sections and stream crossings. Eventually, I found a spot I liked (after a staring contest with a local sheep) and waited for the sky to begin clearing before taking this shot. You can see three of the local sheep in the lower right corner of the image.
AUTHOR
Jim is a self-taught photographer who began exploring photography in 2007 as entertainment on weekends during long business trips to Europe and Asia. Jim ventured deeper into photography after retiring and continues to hone his craft on the local area's scenic vistas and through an active travel schedule. Jim’s priority is collecting images from around the world, intended to stir awareness and offer glimpses of elements in nature and distant cultures that are rapidly changing, and in some cases at risk of disappearing entirely.
