Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2024 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
During my month long trek around the Khumbu Region of Nepal, many of the photos I hoped to capture would have the best light at sunset. However, nearly every evening the clouds would roll in and block much of my view. On this occasion, I decided to climb the relatively small peak of Gokyo Ri despite heavy clouds rolling in. As the sun finally began to set, I surfaced above the clouds and was able to appreciate an stunning inversion below me. A sea of clouds covered Nepal's longest glacier, while the epic peak of Cholatse stood towering into the sky. No one else was there with me on the summit. I stayed for nearly an hour enjoying the peaceful calm before the cold air sent my back to my lodge.
