ENTRY DESCRIPTION
While unknowingly walking around this secluded lake in Kenai, AK, I stumbled upon a moose emerging from the murky undisturbed waters. Creeping slowly towards it through the marsh, I was able to avoid startling this magnanimous creature and captured this photograph through the pine trees.

Aryan Mehra
Expressing the world as a landscape, cityscape, and wildlife photographer. Based in San Francisco, CA.
I am a senior at the Nueva High School in San Mateo. Founder of @16mmphotos, named after my favorite lens focal length, 16mm, known for its ability to capture crisp close-up foregrounds and stunning backgrounds in one shot, and its lending to taking in grand, sweeping landscapes.
I was inspired to become a photographer in the 7th grade. I embarked on a road trip from San Francisco to British Columbia with a used camera that was gifted to me, and on this trip I discovered my need to capture beautiful unseen settings and moments and display them to the world. Since then, I have embarked on many natural expeditions with friends and family. These include a week-long backpacking trip in Yosemite, summiting Exit Glacier in Alaska, and exploring the mountain trails of Whistler Blackcomb on foot.
Recently, after spending more time roaming San Francisco, I found an affection for cityscape photography as well. I love positioning myself to capture diverse perspectives of SF such as photos from the Bay, Alcatraz, and Treasure Island, but also have a nostalgia for the classics—California Street is one of my go-to spots.
I also have experience as a portrait photographer and have shot personal and family photography for charity and donated all profits through The Community Photobooth. In addition, I enjoy teaching photography—I have created educational videos which are present on my YouTube channel, and love learning from others so I have been expanding my global photography network for the past 3 years.
