Captured at Ueno Station, one of Japan’s famous landmarks. Sunlight illuminated the crosswalk just as a cyclist passed through, and I captured the moment. The light formed a square of brightness in the darkness, creating a striking, memorable image.
AUTHOR
I am a Tokyo-based photographer exploring the interplay of light and shadow in urban spaces. My work focuses on capturing fleeting moments that reflect both the energy and solitude of the city. Through monochrome photography, I strive to highlight the depth and contrast of urban life.
My signature series, NOIR TOKYO, portrays people illuminated by the city’s lights and shadows, revealing their presence within the ever-changing urban landscape. This series has been highly recognized by prestigious curated photography galleries such as 1x.com, where I have received multiple awards, as well as international competitions like TIFA (Tokyo International Foto Awards), where I won a Bronze Award and several Honorable Mentions.
In addition to NOIR TOKYO, I develop works that explore the contrast between natural and artificial elements within the city, as seen in my series Urban Blossoms. While my work is primarily in monochrome, I incorporate color in select pieces to capture the multi-faceted nature of light.
Through my photography, I continue to seek new ways to interpret the world around me, blending realism and abstraction to create compelling visual narratives.
