There is something profoundly moving about seeing a lone creature in the vast, empty snowscapes of Svalbard. In this desolate, arid, arctic desert, the Arctic Fox is truly remarkable; a symbol of resilience, of harmony and quiet strength.
The visual juxtaposition of light and dark, creature and landscape really shone with a minimalist approach, both in tones and composition. I wanted to heighten the emotional impact by reducing the scene to its essential elements, leaving the fox as a solitary witness to its beauty and harshness. The hope here is that in this stripped-down state, we find clarity and a realisation that we are small yet significant and part of a much larger picture. The challenge is to reconsider the relationship with the world and have a positive impact on it.
