Abstract: Honorable Mention 2024 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This photograph is from the “Painting by buttermilk” series, which I have started over 15 years ago. Images are created on a glass plate with use of buttermilk and then photograph of the result is taken. Physical processes of slow diffusion of buttermilk, often modified by adding elements of flowers, salt, poppies seeds, etc. create beautiful graphical forms.
Despite of ‘abstract’ feeling, these photographs represent physical reality in a very pure sense. However, what is more important for me, they are short pieces of poetry written in a visual way.
AUTHOR
I was born in Krosno, Poland. My photographic work extends over 40 years, beginning with my studies in Kraków, where I explored the beauty of black and white photography and conducted experimental art works together with my latest brother Zbigniew with whom I formed the Micro-Macro art group exploring connections between art and science. Since settling in Australia in 1992, I have exhibited my works in Melbourne where I lived until 2002, and in Adelaide where I reside currently.
My recent works are reflection on our human fate, meaning of our life and are deeply rooted in our Western symbology. This what I call the Art of Values.
I'm the member of the Royal South Australian Society of Art (RSASA) regularly participating in the RSASA members exhibitions.
