Architecture: Honorable Mention 2024 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
There’s something hypnotic about the way this structure bends and twists, defying the rigidity of its steel skin. The smooth curves seem to ripple, as if the metal is caught in a perpetual dance with light and shadow. I’m fascinated by how the surface reflects just enough light to reveal its texture, while the darker sections recede into mystery. It’s like the building has a life of its own, breathing and shifting under the weight of its industrial armor. The rivets and seams remind me of a giant patchwork quilt, stitched together with precision and care.
I chose this angle to emphasize its abstract, almost otherworldly form—an architectural marvel that blurs the line between structure and sculpture. For me, this image is a tribute to human ingenuity and our ability to turn cold, hard metal into something poetic.
AUTHOR
John. J. Martinotti
As a Fine Art Photographer, I bring an artistic view to all my photographs. I incorporate delicate elements that detach them from the world I see, creating a portal to discover unique perspectives of the unknown. I don't just capture what it looks like, but what it feels like. Applying long exposures creates an ethereal quality in my images that is the source of my inspiration.
Photography is a reality so subtle that it becomes more real than reality. I don't believe in "one size fits all" when it comes to any genre of photography. I strive to evoke feelings of intimacy that lend a sense of surreal to play against a strong or calm compositional environment or subject.
In essence, my work is the art of observation. I believe there are things nobody would ever see or know of its existence if I did not photograph them
