Fine Art: Honorable Mention 2024 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This photograph, taken in the sand dunes of Death Valley National Park, explores the delicate interplay between light, shadow, texture, and tone. The seamless gradient of grains—both of sand and from the film—along with the various shades of gray, blurs the line between the landscape and the image itself. The winding line, the only decipherable element in the composition, guides the viewer’s eye upward, almost beyond the frame. It invites the viewer to contemplate what lies beyond the frame, what is seen within it, and how emotions can alter the perception of the photograph.
