Fine Art: Honorable Mention 2024 (professional)
AUTHOR
Bageensky is a fine art photographer whose projects are developed over months or years, combining photography with writing, design and material experimentation. Each body of work grows from a central idea and is shaped through research, sketches and narrative long before the camera is picked up.
His background in design informs a careful and deliberate approach to image-making. Costumes, props, locations and prints are developed as part of the same process, with every element contributing to the final work. Photography is one stage of a much larger practice rather than the beginning or the end of it.
Working primarily in black and white, Bageensky creates portraits and constructed images that draw on history, memory and imagination. He is interested in photographs that reveal more over time, rewarding repeated viewing instead of seeking immediate impact.
His work has received international recognition through exhibitions, publications and photographic awards. He continues to develop long-form projects in which the photograph and the physical print are treated as parts of the same artwork.
