Fine Art: Honorable Mention 2024 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
The sea and man are inevitably connected. According to the theory of evolution, we evolved from the depths of the sea. More than two-thirds of the Earth's surface is covered by oceans, treasure troves of incredible beauty, nourishment and fascination.
The health of the oceans is closely linked to our existence and it is of the utmost importance to protect it, not only to ensure our survival, but also not to deprive us of its beauty.
The shot was taken in 2024 at the coast of La Manga, which is located on an extraordinary headland that offers both, an inland sea and the Mediterranean Sea.
The great decline of seahorses in the inland sea in recent decades and its pollution has been an issue in this region for many years.
A few metres walk takes you to the Spanish Mediterranean, where the water is clearer, the photoshoot took place.
'Man and the Sea' is a work about the vulnerability of man and water, its dependence and at the same time a call for environmental protection.
Each individual can do something to experience this planet more beautiful and healthy.
COLLECT GARBAGE
With every piece I pick at the beach, I provide a nicer shooting location and make sure that they don't end up in the stomachs of birds and whales, in your food chains and brains.
USE NATURAL CLEANING PRODUCTS
Let's prioritize natural cleaning products instead of using chemical ones whose smell irritates our eyes and respiratory tract and leads to allergies.
FILTER MEDICINE
Medicine out of human and animals need to be filtered
FITER WASHING MACHINES
Microplastics from clothing and detergents should be filtered or avoided
Start, the list is long.
Preserving water is beautiful, meaningful and healthy. It is an expression of awareness and love for ourselves and nature.
AUTHOR
Time on this planet is so precious. The colours of nature and all its different schemes fascinate me and bring me joy.
Light, how it influences everything around us, and water are amazing elements. I love watching clouds and the smell of the forest when it has just started to rain.
I try to create and capture special moments.
I've been into art and crafts since my childhood and whether it's a painting, a poem, a song, a dance move, a theatre play, a smell, a special connection to a human being, an animal, or a plant, it all influences me as a person and how I see and experience the world.
In the world of underwater photography, I've named myself ‘JuliaAquaArt’. My passion for photography began at the age of 16 when I saved up money to buy my first analogue SLR camera. Eager to refine my skills, I enrolled in photography lessons at the Arts & Crafts School in Vienna. These early experiences laid the foundation for my future endeavours in the field.
At the University of Applied Sciences in Salzburg, I obtained a master's degree in design and product management. During this time, I took classes in product photography.
Later I attended photography workshops and still do a lot of try and error work.
Underwaterphotography had gotten my attention all along.
Working near and in water is a great feeling.
In the water, there is no cell phone call to distract you and no friends who could need help with various matters. Surrounded by water it's easy for me to keep focused.
Water supports, envelops, and carries me, allowing me to fully dedicate myself to enriching work.
I usually work on very well thought projects that take time to develop.
