Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2024 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Dawn in the Heights is a photograph that reminds me of the beauty of light.
During a night flight between Spain and Chile, it dawned in the middle of the ocean. And while everyone was sleeping, I wanted to save forever my encounter with the horizon, the sea and the sky, we all shared the first rays of the sun.
AUTHOR
Rodrigo Sebastian Gonzalez
Spanish and Mexican.
I am an art-loving businessman and I am passionate about photography.
In 2005 I co-founded Woo Films, a film and series production company, where I have served as producer and executive producer. We are currently one of the main Spanish-speaking content creators for Netflix. We have offices in Madrid, Mexico and Los Angeles.
Some of our projects are:
• Holy Family.
• The House of Flowers.
• Someone has to die.
• Hurricane Season.
• The Goodbyes.
• Anonymous.
• Once upon a time, but not anymore.
• Perfect Strangers (Mexico version).
• Rebel.
• The Good Girls.
• The immoral life of the ideal couple.
Florence Academy of Art.
In 2012 I founded the Florence Academy of Art in Mexico, with the purpose of bringing the academic offering from Italy to Mexico. We currently offer a degree in composition and performance of classical and contemporary music. This effort officially made us the “Cultural Embassy of Florence”, being the only one outside of Italy. They also named us part of the “Italy System” as cultural attachés of the Italian embassy in Mexico.
Vatican Stradivarius.
In 2014 I managed the financing for the purchase of the Stradivarius of the Vatican, a cello built in 1620 by Nicolo Amati as a viola da gamba and modified in 1703 to its current cello form by Antonio Stradivari.
I am the Ambassador of this historic cello to lend it to professional soloists with the mission of raising awareness among those who listen to it. It is currently played by Nadege Rochat in major venues around the world.
