Portrait: Honorable Mention 2024 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
A few days after my father died, I arrived at the house he left us. I came with my dog. The road leading to the house was shrouded in heavy fog. There was no one around and there was complete silence. And this completely reflected my feelings at that moment - complete emptiness. No colors.
AUTHOR
Since childhood, there have always been animals in my family. Someone was constantly being saved, treated, nursed back to health. Also, when I was a child, my puppy died and this, as it turned out, was my deep trauma and gave me an unconscious ban on having a dog in the family. Because it will hurt too much to lose it.
When I was young, I volunteered at dog shelters. And I quietly had envied those who decided to adopt a dog and was happy for them. After the birth of my son, I became interested in photography and found the way to communicate with dogs more - I began to photograph them. I started fotoshooting of dogs and their owners so that one day, when the dog is gone, people will still have their memories. Because in my case I didn't have any left.
After 4 years of working with other people's dogs, I finally decided to get my own dog. My poodle Shtrudel.
