Street: Honorable Mention 2024 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This minimalist capture was taken on the outskirts of Silesia in southern Poland. While photographing the architecture, my attention was drawn to the shadows of the houses, which perfectly complemented the contours of the buildings. It was the moment that I originally wanted to capture in the frame. As I was setting up the drone for a top-down perspective shot, I noticed a resident heading towards the entrance of one of the houses and I took a series of shots to capture him between the buildings. This simple scene is reminder that even everyday events can gain uniqueness when captured at the right moment. The drone's perspective allows us to see ordinary situations from a different angle, discovering hidden details and inconspicuous beauty in them. It's proof that common scenes can take on new meaning when we see them from the right perspective and pay attention to the small but significant details.
AUTHOR
I was born in 1985 in Poland. I am a graduate of the Institute of Geography and Spatial Management at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. During my studies, I discovered my two greatest passions - travel and, a little later, photography. Since then, my geographical orientation towards exploring the world has been inseparably linked to my passion for landscape photography. Nature, with all its beauty and a variety of colors, is my inspiration, and dawn is definitely my favorite time of day, not only because of the beautiful views, mist, and fantastic light but also because of the all-encompassing peace and silence.
