Wildlife: Honorable Mention 2024 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
The jaguars of the Pantanal have always fascinated me. Every encounter with this majestic feline is an experience that leaves me speechless. The strength in its movements, the piercing gaze, and that golden fur with rosettes that seem to tell ancient stories... It's as if, for a moment, I am standing before the very spirit of the jungle.
In the Pantanal, jaguars are more than predators; they are true queens, reigning with grace and power. When I see them, I feel the grandeur of nature in its purest and most untamed form. This is the kind of experience I want to share through my photos – capturing the untamed beauty of these creatures and the privilege it is to witness them in their natural habitat.
AUTHOR
Hello, I’m Felipe Cuoco, a fine art photographer based in São Paulo, Brazil.
My work is rooted in silence, time, and deep immersion in nature. Rather than pursuing spectacle, I seek to reveal presence landscapes and wildlife observed with patience, respect, and restraint.
Through long-term journeys across remote territories such as the Pantanal, Patagonia, and coastal regions of Brazil, my photography explores the fragile balance between permanence and transformation. These places are not merely settings, but living entities, shaped by time, light, and memory.
My professional path began in the world of economics and entrepreneurship, but it was photography that became my true language. Behind the camera, I found a way to listen rather than impose, allowing images to emerge from waiting, contemplation, and connection with the environment.
I see photography as an act of witnessing and preservation. Each image functions as a quiet testimony a fragment of time held still inviting the viewer to slow down and reconnect with the natural world and its silent strength.
