Wildlife: Honorable Mention 2024 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
A rare White Southern Right Whale taken in Peninsula Valdes, Argentina. Only a small number of these whales are born white, and they will slowly turn more grey as they get older. The Southern Right Whale is a very important species and their recovery is taking much longer since the end of whaling. The Right Whale was called the right whale as it was considered the "right" whale to hunt. NOW I think they are the right whale to photography to showcase importance to protect.
Note: taken under special government permit.
