ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This portrait explores the tension between seeing and being seen, between expression and repression. The eyes covering the mouth and held in the hands become symbols of the paradoxical state of awareness - when one perceives deeply yet remains unheard. The image plays with the duality of beauty and discomfort, inviting the viewer to question what lies beneath appearances.
I photographed myself at home using a simple setup: two background papers clipped to a string hung across a door with clothespins, with the camera on a tripod and a remote shutter release triggered by foot to allow free hand movement. The styling and props were created using unconventional materials to express a surreal, symbolic vision.

I’m 23, and I believe that at 63 I’ll still be holding a camera, chasing light and emotion.
