ENTRY DESCRIPTION
One of our earliest developmental experiences is separation from our mothers, shaping a lifelong craving for possession and attachment. In the image, the subject is partially hidden by fabric, surrendering to her attachments and losing her sense of identity. The monochromatic tones heighten this tension and texture, emphasising the materiality of the objects we cling to. She grasps the middle-toned fabric, seeking safety — a response linked to the “Centre Stage Effect.” The work reflects on human behaviour: our addictions, choices, and how we often prioritise comfort over confronting fear.
