ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This image is a part of a series named African Gold, Proverbs and Duality which is inspired by African culture and heritage. The series itself is a discussion of intertwining ancient African narratives, gender roles and relations, and culture with the modern age and how they shape our present and future. The title Mambokadzi means "Queen" or "woman of royalty" in the Shona language of Zimbabwe. In the frame we see a young African woman in a regal African hairstyle and gold jewelry looking into the camera. The editing style was to intentionally integrate the subject and the background as one to symbolize the connection between the past and the present and the influence of where we come from and where we are now and our future.
