ENTRY DESCRIPTION
These are the "dancing trees" of Sumba Island, Indonesia. They are mangrove trees that stand part from the main mangrove swamp. They make fro a wonderful study but although they have a sort of dance pose they are also drowning owing to the increased rate of sea level rise. They are obviously capable of living in salt water but the issue is that the root systems cannot adapt very well to increases in sea level beyond the normal rise and fall of tides. In fact mangroves have declined globally by half in the last 40 years. Given that these "dancing trees" are relatively few, less than 20 I am not certain how much longer they will be there. Taken in April 2025.
AUTHOR
I'm a keen amateur photographer with a passion for minimalist, abstract and otherworldly images. This kind of photography allows me to create and quite frankly escape a little bit from 'reality.' I live in rural North Wiltshire in the UK but through my job I have had the opportunity to travel far and wide. I particularly like seascapes but dabble in all kinds of landscape. Currently use Fuji GFX kit.
