ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Dorka is a talented Hungarian model who has become my muse over the past few years. While most photographers are drawn to her unique and striking beauty, my approach is different: I seek to create visual stories in which she becomes an essential part of the narrative - her nudity present, but never the central focus.
This composition was created in a unique studio in Budapest, during a session guided by an artist friend who is mentoring me in lighting techniques. Upon entering the space, I was immediately struck by a portrait on the wall. It became the emotional starting point for the shoot. I invited Dorka to respond freely - choosing poses that felt authentic - while maintaining a strong, deliberate eye contact with the woman in the portrait on the wall.
Rendered in black and white, the image emphasizes atmosphere and intimacy. It is not simply a nude picture. It is a quiet, cinematic moment where presence meets presence - an emotional thread unfolds not through the exposed body, but through the power of the model’s gaze. Dorka’s nudity becomes a natural state rather than a focal point. What should truly hold the viewer is the connection she establishes with the woman in the portrait.
In this suspended exchange - between one being grounded in reality, the other rather existing in art or imagination - the picture opens a space of encounter. It invites us not to fixate on the body, but to consider something more elusive: Can the gaze of a nude person speak louder than the nudity itself?
AUTHOR
Eric is a French amateur photographer who is considered by many to be more of a photo artist, not least because of his style and the international awards he has received in recent years. He has created most of his nudes in Germany, Hungary, and Croatia.
Venusonearth has been his project for 20 years. It consists of his website, his presence in social media, and his participation in international contests. Eric’s track record includes prints in magazines like PHOTO in France, VIEW in Germany, several books from the Trierenberg super circuit and Dodho, Motiva, and contest catalogues. Recent awards include being the 2nd place winner at Chromatic Awards 2024 and a Platinum winner at the Muse Photography Awards. Many honorable mentions are among his other references. His participation in PSA-sponsored competitions has been rewarded with several gold medals. Most recently, his picture "Emergence from the dark" was shown at the Corporeality exhibition in Paris.
Eric has been able to evolve from mainstream to artistic photography thanks to three artists. Back in the late 90s, he practiced high-quality photography with the German photographer Arboulan. In 2004, he started to learn from the Hungarian artist Szeni Jung at the so-called Sebesviz workshop, a summer camp he's attended more than ten times since. He is now being coached by Sandor Benkoe, also an Hungarian artist.
Today, Eric has worked with more than 100 amateur models and succeeded in getting international recognition. The best way to describe what has become his passion is a quote from Richard Avedon he read in 2023 at an exhibition in Palermo, Sicily: “If a day goes by without my doing something related to photography, it’s as though I’ve neglected something essential to my existence, as though I had forgotten to wake up".
