ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Photographed beneath the surface of Tasmania’s southern coast, the curled body is held by the kelp itself, a quiet, womb-like pocket in the freezing cold water. Suspended and weightless, it becomes a portrait of belonging and shared vulnerability, mirroring the disappearing kelp forests around it. Once towering and abundant, these forests are vanishing in the warming seas, leaving both human and habitat exposed to a coast changing faster than either can keep up.
