Fashion / Beauty: Honorable Mention 2025 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
He focused on expressing the tension between beauty and anonymity by isolating parts of the female body using gelatin silver monochrome photography. The abstraction and coolness inherent in monochrome allowed him to concentrate on 'shadow, line, and texture,' while maintaining a 'detachment of emotion' and a 'dispassionate gaze.' He established a carefully maintained, cool detachment from the subject. In contrast to commercial photography, this work prompts a reconsideration of the relationship between 'seeing and being seen.'
