Fashion / Beauty: Honorable Mention 2025 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
I took this image in may 2025, in puglia, italy. I’ve long been fascinated by the idea of the “New Woman” that emerged in the 1920s – and by the fact that parts of society were, in some ways, more progressive then than we are today. In this image, I aim to show that people and their stories haven’t changed. The photograph is meant to exist in both time periods at once – then and now.
AUTHOR
While working as a graphic designer, Maxim Naumann used images to enrich his creativity and discovered photography as a new visual language. Based in Düsseldorf, he captures the world, from Europe to the remote landscapes of Australia, with an instinctive approach, letting spontaneity guide his lens. His work, awarded the Swiss Photo Club Critics Choice in 2023, explores textures, light and raw emotion through compositions that oscillate between fashion and snapshots of life, borrowing their intensity and timelessness from cinema. The artist's quest? To capture that perfect moment, suspended in time, that transcends the instant to become pure emotion.
