ENTRY DESCRIPTION
The images in this series emerge from a process
that is both technically demanding and emotionally
immersive. As someone who is primarily a portrait
photographer, I began seeking more expressive
ways of seeing, finding approaches that go beyond
documenting presence and instead evoke what's
impermanent, what's felt but not always visible.
This led me to experiment with a form of focusing
that intentionally disrupts clarity, introducing
softness, abstraction, and instability into the
frame. In doing so, I found myself not simplifying
the photographic process, but complicating it,
intentionally. With this part of the project I try to
hold on to the 3,500 Asian Tigers that are still
here, capturing their fragility, rather than their
ferocity. All Images were shot in Karnataka India,
and all Tigers depicted are wild.

AUTHOR
Joseph Khakshouri is an award-winning photographer based
in Zurich.
He discovered his passion for photography while studying
environmental studies and biology in New York, and soon
after turned it into his calling: Right after graduation, he
began working as a freelance photographer for renowned
newspapers, media outlets, and international agencies.
Today, Joseph collaborates with leading companies and
editorial teams while also pursuing his own artistic projects.
His work spans from documenting people and their life
stories to capturing the animal world-always seeking
moments that reveal intimacy, vulnerability, and beauty.
His photography has taken him to remarkable places
including India, Sri Lanka, Papua New Guinea, the Galapagos
Islands, and Mozambique.
Whether in a CEO's office, behind the scenes with
international figures, in the wild, or on the Syrian-Turkish
border with injured fighters of the Free Syrian Army, Joseph
is drawn to life in all its forms. He strives to understand stories
and capture them in images that radiate authenticity,
empathy, and respect.
