Nude: Honorable Mention 2025 (professional)
I put a seashell to my ear and it all comes back by Tal Brushel (Israel)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This photograph is part of a long-term analog project I have been working on for over four years, titled “I put a seashell to my ear and it all comes back.” The series documents the evolving relationship between the human body and nature—through cycles of transformation, intimacy, and silence.
Each image in this ongoing work reflects a personal and emotional journey, where the nude form becomes a vessel for memory, time, and inner landscapes. Shot exclusively on film, the project explores the fragile strength of the body, the quiet echoes of the past, and the tension between presence and disappearance.
This particular frame captures a moment of profound physical and emotional transition: pregnancy, as an embodiment of both vulnerability and elemental power. It is not about documentation, but about sensing—about listening to something that has always been there, just beneath the surface.
Rather than provoke, the image invites quiet reflection. It seeks to honor the body as a vessel of memory, fragility, and power—existing within the natural world, yet shaped by personal myth.
