Photojournalism: Honorable Mention 2025 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Beneath a brooding sky, the ancient stromatolites stand layered and eternal, their rugged forms etched by time and the forces of the earth itself. Each step of the jagged terrain tells a story millions of years old, the fossilized remnants of early life forged into stone. As mist rolls across the scene and light breaks faintly through the clouds, the vastness of the landscape swallows the solitary figure standing atop the plateau—a fleeting presence amid the permanence of history.
This staggered labyrinth of rock, weathered and cracked, feels alive with whispers of a world before ours. The stromatolites, guardians of an epoch long past, hold the weight of creation itself, their layered textures revealing the birth of oxygen, the genesis of life. It is a scene both desolate and profound, where the ancient and the ephemeral collide, reminding us of the immensity of time and the delicate impermanence of our place within it.
