Portrait: Honorable Mention 2025 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This portrait isn’t about speed; it’s about the pause before it.
I removed the court, the brand colors and the noise, keeping a single light and a plain backdrop. Frontal framing, no heroics—just the few seconds before a serve, when the body is quiet and the mind is loud.
Intent / Approach
Treat the athlete as a person in ordinary time, not in spectacle. By stripping context and stylizing minimally, I look for discipline, repetition, and the fragile mix of ambition and doubt that lives between points. The image aims to hold that private concentration rather than the performance itself.
