Wildlife: Honorable Mention 2025 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Caribbean Sea, Riviera Maya, Mexico
While diving in the clear waters of the Mexican Caribbean, I captured a breathtaking moment: a group of eagle rays flying through the ocean in perfect synchrony. Watching them move together was like witnessing an underwater ballet. Their fluid, graceful motions reminded me of the national synchronized swimming team performing a routine at the Olympics.
Each ray seemed to know exactly where the others were, turning and gliding in unison as following a silent rhythm known only to them. I couldn’t help but feel like one of the judges of this aquatic performance, and without hesitation, I awarded them the gold medal.
I just hope to witness more and more schools of eagle rays in the Mexican Caribbean claiming for their gold in the coming years.
