Architecture: 2nd Place Winner 2015 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This new building, inaugurated in 2003, owes its name to the social politician and women's rights campaigner Marie Elisabeth Lüders. Alongside the Parliamentary Library and specialist scientific service providers it also accommodates a Wall memorial open to the public. Parts of the Berlin Wall have been rebuilt here to commemorate the division of the city along the former route of the Wall.
Together with the Federal Chancellory and Paul-Löbe-House, Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders House also forms part of "Federal Row", an architectural symbol of German unity.
AUTHOR
Architecture and lines are the key elements of Michael Koester´s photography.
The artist was born in Berlin, as a photographer he takes his time focussing on details putting them in the centre of his works. He creates new perception through unusual perspectives.
It is a challenge to see what is special within the urban every day life and catching these elements on photo. For the artist this is not about a specific statement but about depicting the architectureand its special features the way he perceives them.
It is the aim to lead the eye of the viewer to the bare essentials and to create an aesthetic composition,to detach from the hectic every day life and to connect to the man-made structures.
